Boundary Bay Airport Impovements Will Attract World Class Business

August 3, 2006
DELTA, B.C. – Thursday August 3, 2006 “The Provincial Government’s $613,000 investment and Heli-One’s plans for a major new facility are clear signals that Boundary Bay Airport will play a key role in attracting world class business to Delta” said Maria DeVries, President of the Delta Chamber of Commerce following announcements Thursday. “This will benefit the citizens of Delta and generate new business opportunities for Delta businesses”

She added that the Chamber believes the support of all levels of government will assure the airport’s role as a significant contributor to economic growth for the community. The investment by the Provincial Government will pay enormous dividends for Delta with improvements to the airport infrastructure. The 450 new jobs at Heli-One represent a significant increase in employment opportunities in Delta.

Ms. DeVries said the Delta Chamber of Commerce has had a long-standing interest in transportation issues and opportunities in the community. She pointed out that Delta Port, the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and the road and rail network in Delta play a critical role in moving goods to markets throughout North America. Boundary Bay Airport is now well-positioned to add air transportation to the network.

She praised Mayor Lois Jackson and Delta Council for their vision and support for Alpha Aviation’s redevelopment work at the airport.
“This project is an excellent example of a public private partnership that is clearly working well,” said Ms. DeVries.
