Product Labeling resolution supports farmers, consumers
The “Product of Canada” regulation for all food and drinks allows companies that incur 51 per cent of production costs in Canada to have a “Product of Canada” tag. Consumers interpret “Product of Canada” as referring to the origin of the content of the food product whereas the regulations on “Product of Canada” relate to the place where the product is manufactured. This is a concern for the farmer and consumer alike. The Delta Chamber of Commerce has submitted a resolution to the BC Chamber for its May 22-25 2008 Annual General Meeting calling for appropriate revisions to the “Product of Canada” regulations for food and drinks.

Metro Vancouver’s Future of the Region Sustainability Dialogues, in partnership with Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade across Metro Vancouver, have resulted in two recently released dialogue reports: a) Regional Economy >>click here for report>>, and b) Drugs and Crime >>click here for report>>. The Dialogues are a series of high-profile debates and discussions designed to challenge and stimulate fresh perspectives on a range of regional issues, now part of the 2008 Sustainable Region Initiative (SRI). Invitation to attend design workshops for Southlands development 
The Community Planning Team for the Southlands land in Tsawwassen and the Century Group have begun a week-long planning workshop (charrette) that brings together interested members of the community, architects and planners to “build a better community.” Community members are invited to attend certain portions of the intense, concentrated design workshops and presentations: Tuesday, May 6, 7:00 pm for the Opening Presentation; Saturday, May 10, 2:30 pm for a Mid-term Review, and Tuesday, May 13, 7:00 pm for the Final Presentation.
